NOWA MUZYKA Festival

NOWA MUZYKA BYDGOSZCZ

The NOWA MUZYKA – International Festival of Contemporary Music in Bydgoszcz is an annual artistic event dedicated to the promotion of contemporary musical creativity and interdisciplinary artistic expression.
The first edition of the festival took place in May 2013 in Bydgoszcz. The project was initiated as a joint undertaking of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Branch of the Polish Composers’ Union and the Municipal Cultural Centre in Bydgoszcz. Since then, the festival has developed into a regular cultural event presenting the newest achievements in contemporary music and related arts.
The main idea of the festival is to create new artistic value through the interaction of different disciplines, including music, visual arts, literature, and multimedia. The festival aims to inspire cooperation between artists representing various fields—composers, performers, visual artists, multimedia creators, and writers—encouraging them to work together in shaping contemporary culture.
Among the most important objectives of the festival are:
stimulating artistic imagination and creativity,
encouraging collaboration between artistic communities,
building a shared cultural space for dialogue and artistic exchange,
promoting the work of local and national composers in Poland,
presenting innovative and non-commercial artistic phenomena from Poland and abroad.
The festival programme typically includes concerts of contemporary music, world premieres of new compositions, performances by distinguished soloists and ensembles, as well as presentations of works by emerging composers and young artists.
