Krzysztof Komendarek-Tymendorf

Viola soloist, chamber musician, and pedagogue. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor (PhD) at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk. He graduated with honors from the Academy of Music in Gdańsk in the class of Prof. I. Albrecht. He further refined his skills in Vienna at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst and under the guidance of A. Zemtsov, M. Buchholz, H. Rohde, and A. Levitan. He is a laureate of numerous national and international competitions, awards, and scholarships.

He made his solo debut with the Polish Chamber Philharmonic Sopot and his chamber music debut alongside T. Wojnowicz at the Tadeusz Baird Philharmonic in Zielona Góra. His debut album, ReVIOLAtion (Naxos), received numerous glowing reviews and prestigious awards, including the Pizzicato Supersonic Award in Luxembourg and 5 Tuning Forks (5 diapasons) in France’s Diapason Magazine.

He is a frequent lecturer at music courses and a juror at international competitions. His students win prizes in viola and chamber music competitions and successfully win auditions for major orchestras. He is the Director of the EURO Chamber Music Festival in Gdańsk.
